Making money online
working at Home
Chapter One - introduction
Many people think they are NOT computer savvy enough to
make a living on their computer.
Yet one of the easiest and most convenient ways to make money is
online working at home.
If you use a web browser or email
that is enough to get you started.
What gives me the confidence to say it's easy? Here's my
answer.
It simply takes time and hard work - it's not a get
rich quick scheme - but it is a "clear path" based on following my
simple guidelines for success. The investment is mostly sweat equity.
More good news: you don't need a college degree
or any
special training - although it helps a lot
if you can read and write well and are intelligent. Certainly education
is always important - but intelligence and education are not dependent
on one another - which is fortunate for those of us who did not go to
college. If you are on drugs and dropped out of HS don't expect to
succeed - however if you break your bad habits and get a GED that's a
step in the right direction. Reading always
helps - but can be confusing as well. This guideline uses the
"KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid) approach.
Meaningful domain names registered years ago are impossible to find unregistered because they have the potential to become websites that attract visitors. They consist of search engine keywords many of which are bid for by advertisers.
Nothing is sadder for me then to see someone register a meaningless name for $10 and think that people will flock to visit the website that they build using that name.
Very few people will visit websites that have no key word
meaning - unless the name owner spends a lot of money on advertising to send people to their website. GoDaddy for example has no intrinsic meaning yet super bowl commercials that cost millions will create brand value.
The formula for online success requires that you start
with a name with intrinsic meaning that consists of key words that have an advertising value. As content is added traffic will increase and the ability to earn money from advertising increases as well.
For example AquariumHoods.com is a long and pretty unspectacular name to the average person.
However advertisers who manufacture and sell aquarium hoods are paying as much as $1.55 per click on the ads they place on AquariumHoods.com, which is what the key
word pair "aquarium" and "hoods" currently costs. There are a number of aquarium related site owners with traffic making money on the key words "Aquarium Hoods" - but there is only one
AquariumHoods.com. This name currently has an appraised value of $7,800 without any development BUT with appropriate content added, traffic to this domain will increase and pay per click revenues will increase and the appraised value
will increase as well!
Advertisers pay the publisher (the site owner) each
time someone clicks on their ad placed on the publishers website. Google adsense is
the
most well known "master" publisher thru whom the money flows - and
anyone with a website
can register with google to place "adsense" ads on their site and make
a few pennies.
If you already have a website that is getting 1,000 or more visitors a
day - you
can make much more than a few pennies.
The cost to an advertiser is called CPC or cost per click -
and the other side of the coin is the domain owner - for whom the $1.55
is EPC or earnings per click.
Simple right? Right!
There are some roadblocks to being successful. First
you need a domain name that consists of meaningful keywords - actually
that's not so hard but will require an initial investment in a domain
name if you don't have one already. How much? Surprisingly not much considering the potential. Read on.
